Education

Every child in the state has the right to go to a school and receive education in a healthy environment. The children must have equal opportunity to flourish. LKS is fighting for this cause and for the adult literacy as well.

Education programme is running in four gram panchayats of Baitu block – Panawra, Chirya, Akadara and Kanod. The following activities are being carried out:

1. Enrolment campaign is launched every year to ensure that no child remains out of school.

2. Activation of educational infrastructure includes:

Government School Activation: Nine government schools in four panchayats in the intervention area are being covered for activation and efforts are done to ensure quality education. Under this regular visits of the schools are undertaken for monitoring, and suggestions and support are given to maintain quality of education. Regular interaction with children is being done through various activities and meets.
SDMC Activation: Regular contact and meetings with School Development Management Committee (SDMC) are conducted to improve the areas of education and development work under the committee.
Activation of PTA: Parents Teachers Associations (PTAs) have been formed for better understanding of issues through regular meetings. PTAs are helpful in explaining roles and responsibilities of parents and teachers in the covered panchayats.
CLC Activities: Community Learning Centre is a programme started by LKS to provide quality education to the deprived and the poor children. This programme currently runs in one of the gram panchayat of intervention area named Panawara.

3. Perspective development activities include:

Workshop on VEC Related Issues: Regular Village Education Committee (VEC) workshops are conducted to empower the VEC members and improve education status in the schools. Various issues and problems are discussed to search their solutions and work plans are prepared accordingly. Information on common school system and education status is provided to VECs.
Teachers Conference: Regular teachers’ conferences are being organised to discuss quality education, teachers’ status, etc.
Formation of Teachers Organisation: Teachers’ organisation has been formed at the block level. Regular meetings are held with them to make them understand their role in the present scenario.
