Advocacy on Drought and Flood

Recurrent droughts and famines are the bane of the operational area of Lok Kalyan Sansthan. In the year 2006, the area was hit by flash floods, leading to loss of life and property. LKS and Jan Morcha Rajasthan, Jodhpur region, have strongly raised demand of permanent solution/management of drought and flood so as to ensure that every affected person got sufficient compensation in a proper way.

Advocacy on NREGS for Dalit Community

Dalit community faces discrimination by the dominant communities, which ensure that social, economical and other benefits do not reach Dalits. When NREGS was about to start in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts, LKS decided to create awareness about the scheme so Dalits could get proper work without any discrimination.

The beginning was made through a one-day meeting of Dalit community on June 5, 2007, at Kanod in Barmer district in collaboration with Dalit Adhikar Sangharsh Samiti. Since then LKS and Samiti are advocating for fair share of Dalits in NREGS.

Benefits from Government Scheme

LKS is creating awareness on various welfare schemes of the Government scheme with the support of health, education and women group meetings and regular contact with the panchayats so as to ensure that the poor got benefits of the scheme. Several hundred families have been benefited from these awareness drives.
